2023-02-21

Galeria Pelaires is pleased to announce the representation of Inês Zenha, a young talented Portuguese artist.

It is for us the beginning of a special personal and professional relationship. Her work is currently included atTales of disorder, a group exhibition at Pelaires in Palma, curated by Cristina Anglada, with Sara Bechter and Mercedes Azplicueta. She is also on view at her first solo exhibition in Portugal at Kunsthalle Lissabon. Pelaires will present her work at ARCO Lisboa in May and her first solo exhibition in Spain at the gallery.Inês

Zenha (1995, Lisbon) lives and works between Paris and Lisbon. Their practice ranges a multitude of media, such as installation, painting, sculpture and ceramic, which are deployed as part of their ongoing research and reflection on the formal and conceptual queer representation of the body. A body burdened by hetero-patriarchal values, a body that strives to liberate itself and create a new ontology for itself. Recent works have been exploring issues surrounding identity, desire, vulnerability, and constantly evolving questions around power and love. Having graduated in Fine Arts at Central Saint Martins in London, they are currently based in Paris following a residency in 2020.
