Galería Pelaires at ARCO Madrid 2025
2025-03-05

Pelaires participates in the 44th edition of ARCO Madrid 2025 with a booth of 100m2 in Hall 7 (BOOTH 7C13) with a selection of Works by Ana Laura Aláez, Diego Delas, Regina Giménez, Rebecca Horn, Prudencio Irazábal, Jorinde Voigt and Inês Zenha.

Ana Laura Aláez (Bilbao, 1964) will be present with seven small- format bronze sculptures, which will be installed on the wall. Alongside these pieces, a large "hanging sculpture" made of esparto grass will also be displayed. This series, Hilera de traiciones, was first presented between April and September 2024 in the artist's solo exhibition Soy Palacio / Soy Establo at the Es Baluard Museum (Palma). The exhibition, curated by Frederic Montornés, represented "a pause along the way" and marked the beginning of a series of new works that are highly representative of the artist's practice but created with materials linked to the artisanal traditions of the Balearic Islands.

Diego Delas (Aranda de Duero, 1983) will present recent works that, in May, will travel to a group exhibition Clear, Lucid, and Awake at Art Sonje (Seoul), curated by Chus Martínez and organized by Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary -TBA-21. The artist employs vernacular architectural motifs related to storytelling and magical thinking. His work is a dynamic form of painting, characterized by excessive color and bold strokes. He reconstructs, repeats, and reinterprets a fading premodern culture.

Regina Giménez (Barcelona, 1966) has recently joined the list of artists represented by the gallery. The Catalan artist will present a series of works on paper in 100 x 70 cm formats and two canvases measuring 190 x 140 cm. These new works belong to the series Pensar un arbre, pensar un paisatge, which was recently exhibited at Pelaires Cabinet (September 2024).

Rebecca Horn (Michelstadt, Germany, 1944-2024), who passed away last summer, will be present with a series of small-format works on paper and a sculpture.

Prudencio Irazábal (Puentelarrá, Álava, 1954) will be present with two works from 2025 that connect with the series of pieces currently on view at Galería Pelaires in the exhibition Piano Transcriptions. In 2024, Prudencio Irazabal held a major solo exhibition at MUSAC in León, titled Contradistancia. Some of these works can now be seen at the gallery.

Oliver Osborne (Edinburgh, 1985) will present one of his well-known "characters" in oil on linen in a small format (35 x 30 cm) and a work on paper from his renowned series "Rubber Plants". Osborne combines traditional techniques with contemporary approaches, creating pieces that play with perception and visual interaction.

Jorinde Voigt (Frankfurt, 1977) will be present with three works on paper from the series A Difference That Makes a Difference. Inspired by anthropologist Gregory Bateson's assertion that information is "a difference that makes a difference," Voigt developed this series in 2014, exploring form as a communication code. Following a performative process, she throws ink onto paper, creating a spontaneous splash, then outlines, cuts, covers it with gold, and reinserts it into the image. This act symbolizes the transformation of a gesture into visual information, though the final form remains a substitute for an incommunicable meaning. In May 2025, Jorinde will be the protagonist of a solo exhibition at Casal Solleric, titled Introspection.

The young Portuguese artist Inês Zenha (Lisbon, 1995) will present a 130 x 195 cm oil painting from her "Blue Canvases" series, along with two glazed wall ceramics.Zenha will soon be the focus of a solo exhibition at Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo (CA2M), Madrid.
